ACCEPTANCE-FIRST STEP TO SELF DEVELOPMENT

After reading the title, the first thing that comes to one’s mind is the question- acceptance of what? Here I will today briefly explain one of the most underrated and ignored step in improvement of one’s personality. Most of us usually go through the following phase that I am sure you go through as well if that is the reason you are here;

1. Get up in the morning and have this motivated version of you telling you that you can do anything.

2. As soon as you begin some task you have been procrastinating on, you find the reasons bubbling up and telling you that you can’t make up.

3. You end up getting worked up over the fact that YOU don’t have the aptitude to complete given challenges.

4. Overtime due to overthinking and partly due to your surroundings, you bring up a thousands of de-merits in you.

5. All this thinking tires you and you end up accomplishing nothing and going to bed all tired and worked up.

To be frank, I have been going through a similar phase for some time now. Maybe you are a student, maybe an employee, maybe a parent, a worker, such thoughts always seem to conquer your will and you don’t seem to see the end of this phase. Being a student, I have been a procrastinator and still am and the actual reason never ever was laziness or my lethargic behavior, it was always ME UNDERMINING MYSELF.

Now you might think undermining is a totally different discussion, but if you look closely, you might see that self-discouragement and self-undermining come from not being ready to face yourself.

It is all just a matter of fact that you don’t realize that you need to accept that everyone in the world has flaws and nobody is perfect. Everyone lacks something and the desires will never come to an end. The day a person realizes that he is just a part of larger group of people with flaws, I think that day that person will start living for the first time. The more you weaken yourself in front of your own de-merit, the more it will grow. If you think that your flaws over shadow your qualities, well the only reason is that you let it do so.

Improve Your Personality

So the first step to improve your personality is to know yourself completely. Once you think you have accomplished that then move on to second part that is embracing your every good and bad quality. That’s right. Embrace it, love it and if you feel then learn to live with it because one thing you can’t get rid of is yourself and if you want to be in peace, then harmonize your own self with your intuition.

Once you have fully accepted your own self then you can go on to the next step that is to improve but that if you ask me, is all on you and your situation. I mean if you really can’t outrun like if it is something that is part of your past and haunts you and gets in way of your relationships and due to it, people find it hard to confide in you, then I guess you are with the wrong people. The right person will accept you with all your flaws, quirkiness and imperfections.

Acceptance is the Key

When I say this, I say it through experience that the sooner you accept who you are, the earlier you will be able to get over your own fears and faults. Moreover, if you ask me the benefit of accepting yourself as you are, I don’t mean to just be at a stalemate in the state you are. Consistency and discipline are both things that go hand in hand to bring your better future which you have always dreamt about close to you.

In the end, I will just bring the topic to a close by rephrasing this:

How do you suppose to correct something that you don’t even know completely?
